Refund Policy

When a payment is returned: before a file is released, during the inspection window, and why there are no refunds after a download.

Working draft. This is not final legal text.

This page describes, in plain language, how LeadsByCity works today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and needs legal review before launch. Parts marked “Not written yet” are still to be supplied.

1The short version

  • On the Lead Market you have 48 hours to inspect a file. Until you download it, you can report a problem and ask for a refund.
  • Download means acceptance. After a download there are no disputes and no refunds on the platform.
  • Refunds are sent to the refund wallet you gave at checkout.

2Before the file is released

  • An invoice that is not paid within 60 minutes expires. The order is closed and nothing is owed.
  • If a seller who releases files by hand does not release yours within 24 hours of your payment being confirmed, the order is cancelled and you are refunded.

3During the inspection window

From the moment the file is released you have 48 hours to read it in the protected viewer. If something is wrong, press Report a problem before you download, pick a reason and add examples. The reasons are:

  • Rows short
  • Wrong location or niche
  • Emails invalid above the listed rate
  • Duplicates
  • Does not match the listing

The team runs the automatic checks on the file again, compares the result with the quality report on the listing, and decides within 48 hours. There are three outcomes:

Released to the seller
The file matches the listing. No refund is made.
Partial refund
You get back the share of what you paid that matches the share of bad rows. If 600 of 2,400 rows are bad on a $200 order, $52.50 of the $210.00 you paid comes back.
Full refund
Everything you paid, including the platform fee, comes back.

4After a download, or when the window ends

Pressing Accept and download accepts the file. From that point the order cannot be disputed or refunded on the platform. You were able to read every row before you decided, and a file that has left the platform cannot be returned.

If you neither accept nor report a problem, the order is accepted automatically when the 48 hours end. It cannot be disputed after that either.

5When a problem report is rejected

Each buyer’s copy of a file contains control records, described in the Marketplace Terms. If they show that you used the data while your problem report was open, the report is rejected, the seller is paid, and your account is reviewed.

6How a refund is paid

  • You give a refund wallet address at checkout. A refund is sent to that address.
  • Payments are in USDT or USDC, and so are refunds.

Not written yet

Still to be decided: how long a refund takes to arrive, who pays the network fee on a refund, and what happens to a payment that arrives after its invoice has expired or for the wrong amount.

7Instant Lists

  • Before you pay you see the live counts, 5 masked sample rows and the price.
  • If an order fails and the file cannot be produced, the payment is refunded to your refund wallet.

Not written yet

Whether an Instant List that has been delivered can be refunded, and on what grounds, has not been decided.

8Deals made off the platform

A deal that is agreed or paid for outside LeadsByCity has no escrow, no inspection window and no problem review. There is nothing to refund, because the platform never held the money.
